About
WCS
Our school system is indeed
the heartbeat of the community. Established in 1955, the Winfield City
School System operates three schools, serving a student population of
approximately 1,300. Administrators, teachers, and support staff strive
to meet the needs of each student. Parents and the community offer great
support to the school district. By everyone working together we have
been able to become one of the top school districts in the State of
Alabama.
A dedicated staff, committed
learners, and strong parent and community support are strengths of our
educational program. Standardized test scores consistently rank the
Winfield City Schools among the best of all the school systems in Alabama.
Winfield City Schools is
comprised of one elementary school, one middle school, and one high
school. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) accredited
the high school in 1958 and the elementary school in 1966. The Winfield
Middle School (WMS) was established in 1996 due to increased enrollment
at the elementary level. WMS consists of grades five through eight and
was accredited by SACS in 2001. The vision of Winfield City Schools,
“A Tradition of Excellence”, exemplifies our commitment
to continued improvement in the quality of education. Continuous improvement
is truly a tradition within our system. |
